When we speak of multi generational church we speak about every age group having every chance to minister and to be ministered to in every part of the life of church. These points and conclusions were made at the national conference for the AVC by members of various Vineyards in South Africa. The workshop broke into groups and these 5 key issues were discussed. Below are the responses from the various teams.

From Gareth Burley @ Fountain Vineyard
Over the last few years a team from various Vineyards in South Africa set about to develop a set of values and a philosophy for children’s ministry in the Vineyard. We successfully did that and distributed and taught it where ever an opportunity arose. Now we are on a new mission: to discover what a truly multi generational church looks like. 1 of the things that came up in the children’s task force is that young people need to be given opportunities in the body to grow and serve. One of the statements driving this new task force is: ‘every generation having every opportunity in every area of the life of the church’. I am on a mission to put together a set of values and philosophy of what it means to be and do multi generational church.

This philosophy is really a set of principles that God has been highlighting in the context of the wider Kid’s Task Force . These principles are not given to prescribe any 1 style or model but are purposed to help you as you discover God’s way in your place. Enjoy discovering.

The Purpose of this team is to:
1. Gather information as to who’s doing what and resource with other vineyards as to how to move forward in developing this over a 3 year period starting 2005.
2. Create a set of values and standards [philosophy of ministry] for the vineyard movement in South Africa.
3. To train and present this philosophy to the Vineyard movement.
