Memo from Costa: October 2009
Wednesday, November 18th, 2009The Pan-African Vineyard Leaders’ Conference 2009 took place from September 14th to 18th at CYARA Conference centre at Hekpoort, near Magaliesberg. For the first time in several years we moved the conference there to make access easier and less costly for delegates from the other nations who would attend. We wondered how the move would affect attendance, and also set about asking for sponsorship to help us cover the costs and keep the conference affordable for as many as possible to attend. We needn’t have worried! Pre-conference sign up was the biggest ever, from the highest number of nations (22) ever, and our sponsorship goals were reached to make it very affordable indeed. I want to thank them again, from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of all who attended. Materials, transport costs for leaders, registration subsidies, books and even the final night’s dinner were paid for by these wonderful people who are gifts of God to us. (more…)

We are calling the nation to a week of intense prayer about the issue of violence, crime and corruption in our nation. All of us are effected by violence. Many suffer. People from all walks of life and in all suburbs and townships suffer. Women and children suffer through increasing domestic violence, caused by alcohol abuse and other forces that cause violence. Cape Town has been identified as the 5th most violent city in the world and Johannesburg is number 20. Corruption, crime, violence, violent crime, murder, rape, abortion, domestic violence, etc is rampant in our nation.
The Vineyard National Youth Camp (called Vukani, meaning “awake”) will be held in Jeffrey’s Bay from 6 – 10 January 2010. It is open to all Vineyard churches (and in fact all churches) and we’re hoping some of your young people would like to join us. We are aiming it at teenagers and students (and their leaders) and the cost is R350 (excluding transport to JBay).
