Memo from Costa: August 2009
God is a Man o’ War. He fights on three fronts: To defend His people, to promote His Purpose, and to uphold His Honour. In this time of warfare, I felt He wanted to speak a Word of reassurance to His leaders. He is fighting for you at the same time as He is training your hands to fight. He is constantly at work in the lives of His people, and never more so than “in the day of trouble”. As we approach a time of “re-grouping” and being freshly equipped and orientated for the war we, along with the rest of the church, are in, be aware that you are stronger than you say you are, and that God is more active in defending, promoting and upholding than you know. Relax in the knowledge that “those with us are more than those against us”. Relax and move forward into the victory of believing. Just believing is in itself, winning. The weapons of spiritual warfare include doing nothing! David teaches us this in Psalm 127:
3 Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then will I be confident.
4 One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
and set me high upon a rock.
Doing nothing but exercising confidence in the final outcome (vs 3) and seeking His Presence (vs 4) are the most effective thing we can do in warfare. It involves worship and waiting. It was the tactic used by David and Jehoshaphat, having learned it from Joshua and Gideon. It owes its success to the fact that it takes our “flesh” out of the battle-zone, thereby confusing the “god of this age”. Your enemy understands the flesh, and how to disempower anyone relying on it. But worshipping and waiting brings into play an Enemy too strong for him, and releases the power that has, over the Kingdom’s history, brought down strongholds, closed the mouths of lions, provided oil in famine and water in drought. It reminds the devil, and us, that “the battle is the LORD’s”.
HEY! REGISTERED YET?
The conference site is ready; the planners have planned; the speakers are primed; the food is being prepared; the worshippers are rehearsing; delegates from a record 19 nations are registering. All that’s missing is YOU! The registration deadline (28th August) is almost upon us, and Anri is ready and waiting. We need your co-operation in the form of lodging a registration form with the office as soon as possible! The Capies are planning to bring a busload – get on board! The K-Zulus are packing their surfboards away – catch the inland wave to CYARA! The Eastern Provincials are making another convoy – sign up already! And, of course, this year the Gautengers will be right at home, so they await an opportunity to show traditional, Highveld hospitality to y’sll. Don’t keep them waiting, and don’t be disappointed.
PUTTING IT TOGETHER
Some very exciting news is that BUBBA JUSTICE is bringing with him to the conference, a woman called JUDY TABER, who exercises a remarkable ministry to pastors and leaders in prophetic inner healing and empowering. Sue Marland testifies enthusiastically of her very effective gift and its impact on the leaders in Zimbabwe recently. Judy will share in the early morning “prayer as spiritual warfare” sessions, and will be available for ministry to wounded leaders. Along with what we are expecting to receive from Tracy Evans and ministry times I believe will facilitate powerful Kingdom break-through, I am really expectant that lives and ministries are going to be turned around, re-energised and empowered.
Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks’ time!
Agape, Costa
